Bike Walk Wichita is looking to create an active community center where residents and organizations have a space to gather, innovate, ReCycle, and socialize with friends. We want to Plant Our Flag and establish a “right on the bike path”, a centrally located center that becomes one more “shining gem” in our great City!
From the beginning, Bike Walk Wichita has been established as a community organization led by residents and we can’t take this next, bold step without you by our side. Through the purchase of our own downtown property, BWW will be able to expand efforts in all areas and become a more sustainable organization working on local bike/pedestrian efforts for decades to come.
The local increase in the number of people out biking + walking can be seen all across the city. 2021’s Annual Bicycle and Pedestrian Count data revealed a 32% increase over 2012 within the Wichita region. BWW efforts have helped contribute to the local increase through our comprehensive efforts. More than 200 active volunteers help lead efforts each year, providing diverse experiences, leadership, and input
Ensuring that bike/pedestrian interests are represented at the table with decision-makers, government staff, community organizations, and local businesses is vital to making biking + walking more safe and appealing for residents of all ages + abilities. The larger, downtown property will allow BWW to ramp up all areas of programming and advocacy efforts which will create an active, thriving center.
The outside property will be transformed into a gathering space with areas for educational classes and social time. WAVE performances will provide excellent entertainment. Secure bike parking will be provided 24/7 and the garage will be utilized as a donation drop off site and storage.
Bike Walk Wichita’s success over the years can be attributed to the partnerships and collaborations with local organizations and businesses. Collaborations with local
government, service agencies, churches, resident groups, and businesses have helped amplify BWW’s outreach and overall impact. The property’s meeting rooms with technology and areas for socializing will allow for more groups, classes, and meetings to be held simultaneously. The generosity of City Arts and community organizations provided meeting space when Bike Walk Wichita first began, and we plan to pay it forward to help strengthen our local network.
• Provide secure bike parking for visitors to the area
• Provide a drop-in facility with coffee and snacks available for social time
• Encourage other organizations and groups to come in for volunteer nights, allowing them to use our facilities to work on bikes or other activities for their constituents
• Encourage other organizations to use our facilities for their meetings or conferences
Donors will be recognized via an art installation [as desired] and naming rights are available
Bike Typical of most nonprofit capital campaigns is a multi-year commitment from donors, usually from 2 to 5 years. This ensures we have sufficient resources to cover 100% of the project budget.
Please pledge what you can to help BWW Plant Our Flag @ 325 N St. Francis, next to the 2nd street bike path!

Bike Walk Wichita headquarters is where the magic happens…a place where people gather to share ideas, help others, and take action to make Wichita better. If you have had a chance to visit BWW at 131 South Laura, you know we are bursting at the seams and have maximized every square inch available. More than that, we want to be ADA compliant, accessible, and provide modern spaces with technology that support our volunteers, staff, and people interested in being more active.
The property at 325 N. St Francis will include outside gathering/educational spaces, multiple meeting rooms, educational and flexible workspaces, offices, an expanded ReCycle Shop, and a garage for bike storage. Expanded space and hours will transform this downtown property into our active bike/walk center that will allow us to reach thousands more with a larger variety of events, classes, and programming.
ReCycle Shop plans include approximately 4,000 sq ft of shop space for anyone to utilize and will provide improved bike workbenches and repair stations with assistance as needed, better-organized parts + bikes awaiting repair, more bike repair + mechanic classes, expanded retail, an indoor test bike lane, and a bike education + a bike fit station.
