Bike Walk Wichita depends on Bicycle donations as part of our mission. BWW and its ReCycle Bike Shop have several programs designed to provide bicycles to those in need. We accept all styles of bicycles. Our ReCycle volunteers repair, rebuild, or just tune up these bicycles. Many gently used donated bicycles often get sold back to the community at low cost, through our retail section at our ReCycle Bike Shop and the money goes back into BWW’s ReCycle Bike Shop supplies. BWW also ensures those in need of transportation can obtain bicycles through volunteering and our voucher program. We also give children’s bicycles free to any child accompanied by an adult.
Legacy donations are an option that can be recurring donations that begin while the donor is alive or continues after they’re deceased. Beginning in 2023, the Legacy IRA Act encourages charitable giving by allowing donors age 70½ or older to make a one-time, $50,000 qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from an IRA in exchange for a charitable gift annuity (CGA).
